Sunday Waffles, Trips to the Library, And Thrifty Finds!

Well hi there! It has been awhile. *apologetic smile*

I don't recall summer ever being this busy :P This month has toned down on all the hustle and bustle but I still feel like it's going too fast :P Ya with me?

So between work and get-togethers I have been able to fit in quite a few projects these past two months! OH FRABJUS DAY! I know, right? I have even remembered to (wait for it...) take before AND after pictures of some of the projects I've completed. I'm usually terrible at doing that, guys!  *pats self on back*

Onto the pictures!

Three Sundays ago, Robert and I unintentionally started a tradition. A WAFFLE tradition! Who knows if it will stick, but we've had waffles for three Sundays in a row now and who are we to stop it? ;) I shall proceed to make you hungry with these next couple of pictures:

My waffles topped with strawberries, blueberries, and honey. Is your mouth watering yet?

Robert's waffles topped with apricot jam, honey, and peanut butter.

We went to the library and came out with more than we'd planned :D I tried to stay away, really! But, but, just look and that scrumptious stack!

This is the dress I got myself in celebration of getting my license! It reminded me of rainbows. I like rainbows.

I also got these! Russian nesting doll key covers and a tea strainer! *squeals* I collect Russian nesting dolls, so obviously I'm in love with these.

Isn't she cute?!?! She just floats in your tea cup looking super adorable.

This is the Sacred Heart of Jesus driving cross that Mom gave me :) And the pretty heart earrings that go perfectly with a necklace Robert made me a while back.

First project! This was an old frame that Robert's Mom gave us and it happened to be the 'almost' perfect size for one of our puzzles we had been wanting to frame. So I painted it with the leftover red paint that I used in the Phantom of the Opera music room.

Voila! Robert cut the matting down to size, glued the puzzle together and onto the matting since we opted not to buy glass for it. I love it and it is now quite happily hanging in the dining room :)

Nerdy cups! Over the past year I've developed this nice collection. My family enjoys choosing who they are going to be every time they come over :)

I found the large mermaid when I was out shopping and my brother brought back this little mermaid after a trip. Both needed some tops painted on them! So here they are, all complete and awkward-free. I LOVE mermaids! Our bathroom is mermaid /sea themed and I'm always looking for something new to add.

New shoes! I've been needing some new tennis shoes for a while now and I found this brilliantly blue pair at Wally World :) I also finally had a good excuse to buy myself a pair of wellies. I've been looking for the perfect pair for a looooong time and here they are! More rainbow awesomeness :D

My niece's birthday is coming up and I was trying to think of what to get her the other day. I found these shirts in the women's section at Goodwill and came up with the idea to refashion them into dresses for her! I can't wait to see what she thinks of them!

I also found all of this on the same Goodwill trip! Some of the shirts might get refashioned for my future little girls. Goodwill is awesome.

THIS is a sign I have been wanted to create for a loooong time now and I finally did it the other day!!!!!! It will be going in our kitchen once we glue the hanging attachments on the back. The sign was inspired by the song 'Scarborough Fair'. This picture doesn't do it justice :P We don't have a lot of natural light in our house so it's hard to get really good pictures while inside.

This is my latest project. This is a desk that my sister was getting rid of and I claimed it as my own. It definitely needed some character added to it though, so I decided to give it a nice coat of paint.

I know the paint looks white in this picture but try to believe that it is really a very light blue. I just put some clear coat on it tonight so hopefully it is totally done!! It will be going into my craft room once it's dry :)

*sigh* I feel so accomplished :) I need to keep being creative 'cuz I seem to thrive when I'm working on a project!

How has your summer been so far?

Love you guys!

Cheers :)

P.S. I have read 47 books this year!!!!!!!!! How many have you read? I wish I could be as dedicated a reader as somebody else I know..... *looks meaningfully at Cait* :D Someday, I tell you! SOMEDAY.

Tag Thingy With More Random Questions

Hello there!

My bloggy friend ,Treskie, did this tag thingy and it looked like fun, so here it is :) Enjoy!

11 Random Facts About Me:

1.) I'm a big Phantom of the Opera fan, in case you didn't notice ;) I would love to see a Broadway production in New York City.
I fell into deep, deep, love with Gerard Butler after the 2004 POTO movie. He's Scottish, okay? A girl has to fall for a movie star at least once in her life, right? Or twice? (William Moseley 'Peter Pevensie' was my next love after I got over Gerry) It was kind of ridiculous how much I liked G. B. Like embarrassingly ridiculous. *slides down in chair*

Oh gosh, I hope Robert doesn't see this post. *waves* I love you honey!

2.) I like Disney. A lot.

3.) I hate centipedes. We had one on our bed last night and I almost couldn't find it after it skittered away. *shudders* God is good. He made it's presence known so I could smash it :) I was able to get to sleep after that!

We live in an old house so we have more than frequent visits from unpleasant little creatures :P I think Robert hates them more than I do though. He sometimes goes on centipede hunts in our basement at night so as to decrease their population :D

4.) I'm rubbish at video games. I try but it just doesn't get better :P Mario party is fun though, even if you suck at it :) Nancy Drew computer games and Lord of the Rings online are my thing.

5.) Scooby Doo was my favorite cartoon when I was little and I still love it :)

6.) This is the only way I would eat an apple when I was little: It had to be whole and I would pretend to be Snow White and faint after I bit into it.

7.) So one afternoon when I was still pretty young, I was innocently watching Mr. Rogers. He proceeded to pull out a blank book and asked all of his little listeners what they saw in the book.

Note: We had to imagine what we saw.

Well, being the smart little child that I was, I said "I see nothing."

He continued to ask what we saw.

Appalled at how ignorant this man was, I indignantly started yelling "I see NOTHING!!!!"

Which led to Mom running in to see what was wrong :D

Sorry, Mr. Roger's!

8.) My favorite holiday is St. Patrick's Day. I like all of them though.

9.) I like colorful socks :) They are sooooo fun!

10.) I plan to make a replica of Thranduil's crown someday.

11.) I love bookmarks. "nuff said.

Treskie's Questions:

1.) When was the last time you felt like: MIND BLOWN?

When I found out that the snake that Harry Potter frees at the Zoo is also Nagini later on in the books O_O (If that is even true...I'm not sure if J.K. Rowling actually said that)

2.) What is your view on the general public.

You mean the woman at Wal-mart wearing obnoxiously colored jammie pants while yelling as loudly as she can at her 2 year old?

Or the lady that was extremely rude and walked out on me at work because I couldn't remember exactly how to do a gift certificate (I had never done one at that place before) and my boss wasn't answering her phone so she couldn't walk me through it?

It depends on the day. Mostly not too good. I have to deal with them everyday at work and I've discovered just how many unpleasant people live in this world. On good days, a lot of nice people come in the store and the world is good again. Work would be great all the time if we didn't need customers! Hehe :D

I don't know. I like hiding away at home and escaping from the world so I don't have to deal with people. But I also know that there are some great people out there, and some are just having a really bad day, so I guess I have to forgive them on days like that.

3.) Have you watched Olan Rogers?

No....never heard of him actually.

4.) Do you collect sporks?

I don't, but that sounds like something Wall-e should be doing :D

5.) Do you collect something?

When I was little I collected mini porcelain dolls and Barbie dolls.

These days I like to collect Russian nesting dolls, books, daggers, fairy things, mermaid things, phantom of the opera things, Irish things, nerdy things etc.

6.) Are you getting tired of Frozen's hype?

A little bit, maybe. I like the songs better than the movie itself and I'm still happy when one of them plays on Pandora, so I guess I'm not tired yet.

7.) Les Mis or Phantom of the Opera

PHANTOM. I'm not a big fan of Les Mis *winces as tomatoes are thrown in my direction* Sorry! I liked it better when it wasn't a musical (The movie starring Liam Neeson), not that I don't like the songs. Idk. I was really turned off by all the crude parts in the new movie and I felt like they were singing everything.

POTO is just better in my opinion.

8.) Does Walmart give you a headache?

Sometimes, yes. I try not to go there too often.

9.) Can you find a gif that expresses the word "booyah"?

I can't seem to get it to show up so here is the link:

http://gph.is/1kBCtzL

10.) Favorite candle smell?

Unscented is the best because scented candles usually give me a head ache. Although my friend gave me one called 'Sweet Pea' and that smelled really good and not overpowering like some are.

11.) Can you complete this quote? "These are not the _________."

All I can think of is "These are not the droids you are looking for." :D But if it's just one word your asking for then I fail pitifully.

My Questions:

1.) Which Pevensie is your favorite?
2.) Which Penderwick is your favorite?
3.) If you could choose a theme for your bedroom, what would you choose?
4.) What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
5.) Favorite dwarf? (From the Hobbit)
6.) What board game do you like the most?
7.) Mermaids or Unicorns?
8.) What book are you currently reading?
9.) If you could buy a Disney t-shirt what would it be?
10.) Would you rather be a Hobbit or an Elf?
11.) Would you go fairy hunting with me?

So there you have it! I'm not going to tag anybody, just feel free to do it if you want to! And I don't care if you just answer the questions I made up and skip doing the 11 randoms. It took me awhile to even think up that many :P

Goodnight Peoples!

Catching Up and Catching Fire

Hello world!

My blog has been pretty quiet for the past few months, I'm sorry to say. I had every good intention of blogging (at least) monthly, but life caught up with me. There was always something else that needed to be done :P Like dreadful housework! It's never ending. I need to learn how to juggle things better or at least set a time or day to do this and that.

But, here I am now! I'll just fill you in on a few things that happened these past few months....

The Halloween party was a success! I'll try to post pictures soon, even though it's December already! Yikes! Where does time go?
I was able to throw a costume together for myself and Robert. I was very pleased with the result. I mostly used things I already had for both of our costumes. Robert's Phantom costume consisted of his black wedding suit w/ a black dress shirt, a black cloak I had made him several years ago, black gloves, a black tie that I tied to look like a cravat ( I wanted to make one, but ran out of time), his black dress shoes, and a phantom mask I made out of plaster cloth to fit his face. That was a bit of a challenge, but it turned out all right for my first one :)

For my costume I used my white lace cami from Maurices, a medium length, white slip, my white nylon stockings, a lacey sleeveless, V-neck shirt that I found at a garage sale for 25 cents (SCORE!), a 2 yds. length of lacey white material my Dad brought home for me, which I used for the skirt ( I just pinned it where I wanted it) and finally, a dressing gown made from leftover lace from my wedding and my nieces baptism. I made my own pattern out of newspaper for that. I LOVE it!!! It came together so perfectly AND I didn't have to spend much on it!

So yes, pictures. SOON!

Thanksgiving was nice and relaxing. We went to my Mom and Dad's on the day, ate far too much, and watched behind the scenes on "The Hobbit - The Extended Edition". We also played games.
The Saturday after we went to Robert's family's Thanksgiving and did about the same thing except for watching Hobbit stuff :D

We also saw two movies in theaters over the weekend.

Number 1: Frozen

I LOVED it! Lots of singing and I especially liked that it was roughly based off of Hans Christen Anderson's "Snow Queen", which is one of my favorite fairy tales :)

Guess who my favorite character was?

Did you guess yet?

How 'bout now?

If you guessed right, then yes, it was Olaf!

                                                                  He is hilarious!

Number 2: Catching Fire

I liked it and I THINK it stuck to the book pretty well. I read it over a year ago so it's hard to remember.
I loved the costumes! There could have been a bit more coverage on some of Katniss' outfits but that's Hollywood for ya. I didn't really like the wedding dress they picked for her though, it looked really uncomfortable.

I loved their entrance costumes in both 1 and 2. The hair and make-up were awesome.

So after a fun weekend I'm back to the grind. I'll be working on Christmas presents for the next few weeks and other decorations. I need to finish decorating tonight. This year we are doing a combination of themes: Snow Queen/Polar Bear King/Narnia.

 It shall be epic.

Disney Tag/Blog Party!

'ello everyone!

This tag was started by Amy, whose blog I just started following :) Really fun idea Amy! I'm excited :)
I found Amy's blog through Treskie who I believe is her sister? (Correct me if I'm wrong!) Check their blogs out people, they are pretty cool :)

Anyways. I decided I would do this. Because it's AWESOME!

Feel free to join in! All you have to do is answer the same questions and/or do an extra blog post of something Disney-related. I'm not sure if I will do the Disney post yet....keep checking though! I plan to do a lot more posting than I have in the past. A LOT more.

Amy drew this. Isn't it wonderful? Okay, on we go. Here is the first question:

1.) What is your favorite Disney Movie?

Snow white and the Seven Dwarves! I've loved that movie for a long time. The video at our local library practically lived at my house while I was growing up :D I wonder why we never bought it...:) I have my own copy now though!

2.) Favorite Princess?

This is a hard one. Ummmmm....Sleeping Beauty/Princess Aurora/Briar Rose. Whatever you want to call her. I loved that movie too :) She was just so pretty and she liked to sing. And I like to sing. So yeah, she's probably my fave. I also like Giselle, Rapunzel, Merida, and Snow White a lot.

3.) Least Favorite Princess?

It's a love/hate relationship really. I liked her more when I was child, but not so much now. It is none other than: Ariel. I'm sorry! I love mermaids (well, certain mermaids) but this one... *grimace*. I didn't like how she was dressed, how she was really disobedient, and how desperate she was to become human that she would give up her own VOICE! And that hair. Let's just not get into shall we?

4.) Do you like drawn animation or the computer animated movies better?

I like both. But if I had to choose I would say drawn. I mean, can YOU imagine drawing all that out? I can't. So there.

5.) Favorite Male Character?

     TARZANNNNNN! No questions asked.
I mean, who doesn't want a good looking, muscular man to sweep them off their feet? Just me? Oh. Okay. *embarrassed face*

6.) In your opinion, who was your favorite villain?

 Maleficent.
She was just so EVIL. I mean, c'mon, look at that face!

7.) What is your favorite Disney hairstyle? ( I just had to ask that one!)

Uh, Rapunzel's lovely flower-y hairstyle. DUH. It's beautiful.

Although I also like several of Giselle's in Enchanted.

Pretty :)

8.) What is your favorite story?

Probably Beauty and the Beast. Whether reading it or seeing it, I've always loved the story. My second favorite would probably be Snow White.

9.) Which one has the best romance?

I really liked the romance between Tarzan and Jane. It was just cute :)

10.) What is your favorite Disney song? *Mrhrhrhr* (Yeah, narrow it down to one!)

Okay, make it even harder why don't ya ;)
I like a lot of Disney songs but for now I will leave you with these lovely numbers.

"Once Upon A December" from "Anastasia".

"Can you feel the love tonight" from "The Lion King"

"I'll make a man out of you" from "Mulan".

11.) What is your favorite costume?

        Again, only ONE?!?!
Okay, I really liked the blue dress Giselle wore in Enchanted. I might have to make one.

AAAAND of course, Rapunzel's purple dress in Tangled.

12.) Would you rather go to a ball with a midnight curfew or get lost in the forest and keep house for a bunch of dwarfs?

I'm not very good at dancing ( I don't like the attention :P It's a bit hard to dance when people are watching me.) And I'd probably be late for my curfew.
Organizing, cleaning, and keeping house is my thing. It's what I'm good at. So yeah, I'd say I would rather keep house for a bunch of dwarfs instead of having everybody stare at me at a ball. I  like balls, but not that much.

13.) Who is your favorite non-human character?

Abu or Timon would be my first picks.

Ooooooh, and don't forget Maximus!

14.) Do you want adventure in the great wide somewhere or would you rather just be on an island of your own?

I would take both. first the adventure(s) then the island :)

15.) What Disney movie is most likely to make you cry?

16.) What character do you most relate to?

Definitely Rapunzel. This would be me if somebody broke into my house.

17.) What scene used to scare you the most?

The part where Pocahontas saves John Smith. That was really scary to me as a child.

18.) Do you like Aurora's dress better in pink or blue?

BLUE! For goodness sakes, anyone can see it looked better on her when it was blue. I thought it was dumb when Disney chose to advertise her in the pink version for everything. It was probably because Cinderella's dress was blue and they needed more variety :P

19.) Have you seen The Great Mouse Detective?

Yes. A long time ago, but I remember liking it. I should see that again sometime soon.

The girl was so cute in her tammy hat and scarf!

20.) What Disney movie, in your opinion, is the prettiest? Story aside, characters aside, what movie is just the most fun to look at?

I always thought Mulan had some pretty scenery. Especially the scenes that involved cherry blossoms. Oh yes :)

Wow. I'm done?

                                          My sentiments exactly.

So there you have it! Please join, spread the word and have some fun! I did :)

Bye!
