Drawing Contest!

Hi!
Just a short update on my life: I went to Ireland to visit my boyfriend who is studying abroad there, got engaged, came home, went to my sister's wedding, and am now getting used to not being busy! Lot of information in one sentence right? I'll tell more about Ireland and my engagment in a later post because I'm completely worn out from people asking "How, when, where, and what was your trip like?" at my sis's wedding, so I'm going to take a break :)
Today I discovered a really awesome drawing contest created by a fellow homeschooler whose blog I follow! Here is the link: http://shealynns-faerie-shoppe.blogspot.com/search/label/30%20Day%20Drawing%20Challenge
I'm about six days late though, but I still want to do it, whether or not I make the deadline :) I already started on the first assignment, which is to draw a picture of yourself. I'm afraid I will never amount to the magnificent drawings that Shealynn creates but I do like to draw, and I've seriously neglected that craft, so thank you Shealynn for inspiring me to try my hand at it again! We'll see how it goes.....
I'm planning on taking my time with it, so that I'm not rushing my drawing. It's been awhile since I've done anything I really, really, REALLY felt impressed with, so hopefully if I take my time, I'll not only learn some new techniques but create something beautiful as well :)

Fall is in the air!

I'm excited for fall to come! I love the weather changes for this time of year. I DON'T like daylight savings time though, I've never seen the point! You get a lot more done during your day if the sun is up for just a few extra hours. Fall usually puts me in a sewing mood, which might be caused by the weather change. I absolutely hate sewing when it's ridiculously hot out, and since we don't have air conditioning except in one room it's rather difficult to make myself work on any sewing projects. I do have a project I'm going to be working on in the next few days though! Every year I make it my goal to always make my Halloween costume, so this year I've chosen to be Helen of Troy. I just got the fabric for it at Jo-Ann Fabrics about a week ago, but I still need to find 7 and 1/2 yards of cheap trim. I've been searching on Etsy.com for any deals on decorative trims, and though I haven't found any to die for yet, I've found some that could work. The color of my dress is going to be a sea-blue/green color, and there is a wrap that will be the same color, only I'm using sheer fabric for that. It is also what I will be needing the trim for. I want something that has gold in it, but we'll see what happens. One kind of trim that I liked at Jo-Ann Fabrics was $4.99 a yard! EEEEeeeek! Definitely not in my price range.
I need to start working on this soon, so that I can get it done by the 7th of October, preferably. My reason? Oh nothing really, I'm just going to Ireland starting that day for A WHOLE 9 DAYS!!!!!!!!! I still can't believe I really get to go there! It is a dream come true :) I'll try to blog soon, once I get the chance. Life has been crazy, and probably always will be around here :P Well bye for now,

Apologies and Updates

Okay, I know I'm a terrible, terrible blogger, and I don't have any good excuses for not blogging :P Anyway, I never got to make my celtic shirt because silly me grabbed the wrong pattern size and due to Jo-Ann Fabrics being a half-hour away, I can't go there very often. I'm waiting for their 99 cent pattern sale for Simplicity but I'm never lucky enough to go there is one :( I did start on a spring dress for my cute little niece though, which is coming along nicely :) I also made several masquerade masks which I'm planning on selling on Etsy.com. I'll post the link once I get them up :)
Lately I've been working in the garden, planting roses and my seed starts. My roses are blooming too!!!!! They're so pretty :) Most of what I planted were herbs that I regularly use in the kitchens, along with some lupine flowers and butterfly weed :) I REALLY hope they do well, otherwise I will be very put out. I know I need to blog more too, which I'm hoping will happen, I've just been very busy and lazy lately ;)

Silly Mary, She Went and Caught Pneumonia.

Okay, so almost one month later I have posted nothing :P To tell you the truth I haven't been doing a lot of crafting of late, since I managed to catch pneumonia several weeks ago. Unfortunately it likes to latch onto it's victim, so I'm still coughing but not as much as I was, thank goodness. I did make some masquerade masks before I got sick which I took pictures of but never got around to posting :P Silly me.
I am getting excited for St. Patrick's Day though, which has put me in a crafty mood. I found some celtic-looking material at Jo-Ann's awhile back and I want to make a shirt out of it, but the question is....will I make it by St. Patrick's Day? Ummm...maybe. With a serger that is being stubborn at the moment and a sewing machine whose bobbin likes to get caught and create havoc, we shall see if I shall succeed!
